Six hundred of the top bank executives received $1.6 BILLION of the tax-payer bailout in the form of bonuses.
Some of the money was cash, some was used “for personal use of company jets and chauffeurs, home security, country club memberships and professional money management.”
I was appalled the other day while some of my friends complained that the 3 million auto workers wanted to keep their health care and retirement benefits during this crisis. Yet, nobody questioned benefits for the rich.
To give my friends the benefit of the doubt, they were merely parroting the media as they questioned the auto workers, while the media didn’t stress the fact that the bailout to the banks came with no strings attached.
But now the media is finally starting the squawk—at least the Associated Press is. Check out these two articles: one on how the banks’ use of the bailout money is a secret, and one on the billion and a half on bonuses.
